DIY Natural Diaper Cream & Belly Butter

As mothers, we tend to use a lot of body care products for our little ones and ourselves. Over time, we get to know what works and what doesn’t, and what ingredients we love and hate. I had gotten to the point where I was tired of overspending for “good quality” creams and lotions made with skin-loving, organic ingredients. The three little letters of “DIY” can look intimidating to us busy moms, but I wanted to keep the ingredients that I needed and cut out the excess. This is why I was inspired to make my own baby diaper cream and belly butter for stretch marks! You’ll notice that there are similar ingredients and preparations for both creams, which makes it 10x easier and more cost-effective to make!

Read on for these easy recipes that you can do in 30 minutes or less-

Natural Diaper Cream

To help heal and prevent diaper rash in babies & toddlers

Ingredients

Directions

Add beeswax, coconut oil, Shea butter, and the optional vitamin E oil to large glass bowl or double broiler. Bring to a boil and stir until all ingredients have melted (about 6-10 minutes). Remove double broiler or bowl and let cool at room temperature for 15 minutes. Place in fridge for at least 2 hours in order for ingredients to emulsify. Add zinc oxide powder to mixture and use a hand mixer to blend until it’s a smooth, whipped consistency. Add to glass jar and use daily to heal and prevent diaper rash in babies and toddlers! We’ve been using this on our toddler for about 2 weeks and have had ZERO diaper rash or irritation. YES!

Natural Belly Butter

To help prevent stretch marks from pregnancy

Ingredients

Directions

Add beeswax, coconut oil, Shea butter, and vitamin E oil to large glass bowl or double broiler. Bring to a boil and stir until all ingredients have melted (about 6-10 minutes). Remove double broiler or bowl and let cool at room temperature for 15 minutes. Place in fridge for at least 2 hours in order for ingredients to emulsify. Add desired essential oils to mixture and use a hand mixer to blend until it’s a smooth, whipped consistency. I used Lavender for it’s soothing effect and Frankincense for it’s skin healing properties! Add to glass jar and apply to tummy and body daily to help prevent stretch marks. Because this balm is so moisturizing, be sure to let it sink into the skin for a bit prior to dressing to prevent oil spots on your clothing.
